Body Surface Area Calculator
Calculate body surface area using three formulas for medication dosing.
What is the Body Surface Area Calculator & How does it work?
The Body Surface Area (BSA) Calculator uses the Mosteller, DuBois, and Haycock formulas to estimate an individual’s BSA. This measurement is crucial in determining appropriate medication doses based on body size. The Mosteller formula is simple and widely used: \(BSA = \sqrt{\frac{{weight (kg) \times height (cm)}}{{3600}}}\). The DuBois formula offers a more precise calculation with its empirical approach: \(BSA = 0.2074 \times weight^{0.425} \times height^{0.725}\). Lastly, the Haycock method is particularly accurate for children and smaller adults: \(BSA = 0.03207 \times weight (kg)^{0.425} \times height (cm)^{0.725}\).
BSA = \sqrt{\frac{{weight (kg) \times height (cm)}}{{3600}}}
