PORT CALCULATOR Tennis Serve Speed Calculator Calculate your tennis serve speed based on spin and trajectory.
📖
What is the Tennis Serve Speed Calculator & How does it work?

A tennis serve’s speed is influenced by several factors, including the angle of release (trajectory) and the amount of topspin or backspin applied. The basic physics behind a tennis serve involves understanding how these variables affect the ball’s velocity.

v = \frac{\sqrt{2gh}}{\cos(\theta)} – \frac{\omega r^2}{2v}
v = serve speed, g = acceleration due to gravity, h = height of the ball at release, θ = angle of release, ω = angular velocity of spin, r = radius of the ball.

The formula accounts for the initial vertical and horizontal components of the serve speed, adjusted by the effect of spin. The higher the trajectory and more topspin applied, generally, the faster the serve will be.
