The True Shooting Percentage (TS%) is a metric that evaluates a player’s shooting efficiency by considering the points scored from all types of shots relative to the number of shot attempts. It accounts for the varying point values of different shots, providing a more comprehensive view than traditional field goal percentage.
To calculate TS%, you need to know the total points scored and the total shot attempts (including free throws). The formula adjusts for the fact that each type of shot is worth a different number of points:
